Farewell dear Rod

It was with great sadness that while on holiday in Sri Lanka I learnt of the death of my friend Rod Younger, the effervescent, indefatigable Anglo-Spanish founder of Books4Spain Rod was a multi-talented bundle of energy who had been in international banking for 15 years before writing his own thriller, ‘Deadly Secrets’ which was set in Spain. In 2011 Rod’s passion for the country and its literature saw him create his visionary Books4Spain – a one-stop shop for books and eBooks about Spain written mainly in the English language. It was just after he’d founded the company that Rod and I made contact. We became chums by telephone and e-mail and in the days leading up to his death I had been in touch to let him know I’d be away on holiday. A generous spirited man, Rod did everything he could to promote my books- and those of other authors- on his site and would run book competitions for his readers using his beloved cat, JJ, to choose winners.

Now that I am back home in Mallorca, I am still struggling to comprehend that such a warm and hugely talented man of only 53 years, has been taken from us. Like many, I have lost a good friend and I can only hope that Rod’s wonderful legacy will live on. I am therefore delighted to learn that Books4Spain will remain live and that readers will be able to continue enjoying the site that was created with such enthusiasm and passion by Rod. He will be sorely missed.
