Zero Tolerance on Knife Crime

We’ve heard it all before but Boris Johnson and the Metropolitan Police genuinely seem to have taken the bull by the horns and decided to get tough on crime in the Capital. While Ken Livingstone sat in his ivory tower ignoring the violence erupting on London’s streets, new Mayor Boris has put his money where his mouth is. For anyone who remembers the scary streets of New York City before tough mayor Giuliani cleared up the bodies and gave it back its pride, this new initiative should prove most welcome. Taking advice from current New York mayor, Bloomberg, was a smart move, proving that Boris is keen to learn from hard experience and successes in another major capital. Now at tube stations and bus terminals across London there will be police doing random searches of youths and gangs and if that’s not PC, well tough. This is music to my ears and if thugs don’t want to be searched and arrested, all they have to do is throw their weapons away and be nice.
