Anna Nicholas – Corporate profile

Anna Nicholas graduated from Leeds University with a 2:1 Joint BA Hons in English Literature & Ancient Greek.

She has 25 years of international PR and marketing experience providing global organisations with highly creative PR strategy, crisis management and expertise in consumer and trade press relations.

Post university, Anna joined the national charity, Help the Aged, as a graduate trainee, soon becoming the top regional fundraiser and later, senior press officer at the charity’s London HQ. In this role she handled numerous high profile Royal fundraising events.

Joining the Guinness Book of Records initially as PR manager, she soon became international spokesman and adjudicator of records worldwide working closely with the book’s founder, Norris McWhirter. Post Guinness, Anna became head of marketing – and subsequently a director – of Czech & Speake, manufacturers and retailers of luxury bathroom fittings, accessories and aromatics and fragrances.

From there she established her own luxury lifestyle consultancy, ANA Communications. Having merged ANA Communications, Anna now works as a freelance journalist, author, motivational speaker and independent PR consultant.

She works between central London and Mallorca. Anna served as a director and trustee of the charity, The Scientific Exploration Society, for 10 years, accompanying founder and president, veteran explorer, Colonel John Blashford-Snell on tough global expeditions, often to South America. She has run six marathons on behalf of charitable causes and will be undertaking her seventh in Cologne, on 2 October 2011.

She is a keen runner, having completed an international marathon annually for the past six years on behalf of her favourite cause, a small orphanage in Sri Lanka. She will attempt her seventh international marathon in Cologne in October.

Anna has been a freelance journalist for many years, having written features for the Financial Times, Independent, Daily Telegraph, Evening Standard, Daily Express and Tatler among others, as well as several in-flight magazines.

For the past seven years she has contributed a weekly column to the Majorca Daily Bulletin and writes twice weekly for The Daily Telegraph’s Expat section.

Anna lives in Mallorca with her husband Alan and son, Oliver. She has twice presented her books at the Times Oxford Literary Festival and been guest speaker at numerous events. Her two latest titles are Donkeys on my Doorstep (published June 2010) and Strictly Off the Record-On the trail of World Records with Norris McWhirter which was launched at The Jumeirah Carlton Hotel, London in September 2010.
