A Lizard In My Luggage

Lizard in my luggage by Anna Nicholas

Mayfair to Mallorca in one easy move
Anna Nicholas

Read an excerpt from Chapter 1

Synopsis
Anna, a PR consultant to Mayfair’s ritziest and most glamorous, had always thought Mallorca was for the disco and beer swilling fraternity. That was until her sister hired an au pair from Fornalutx, an idyllic rural village in the north west of the island, who said it was the most beautiful place on earth. On a visit, Anna and her Scottish husband Alan, fell in love with a sad and abandoned ruin of a farmhouse in the Sóller Valley and impulsively decided to buy it.

Despite her fear of flying, she keeps a foot in both camps and commutes to central London to manage her PR consultancy. But increasingly she finds herself drawn away from the bustle and stress of life in the fast lane towards a more tranquil existence in Sóller.

Told with piquant humour, A Lizard in my Luggage explores Mallorca’s vibrant fiestas and local traditions, as well as the up and downs of living in a rural retreat in the mountains. There are a host of eccentric and lovable characters on both sides of the channel as well as a cast of raucous frogs and animals hiding out in the hills. Above all, A Lizard in my Luggage is about learning to unshackle the chains of city life, appreciate the simple things and to take risks in pursuit of real happiness….even if the financial rewards might not be so great. Most importantly, it shows that life can be lived as a ‘euro commuter’ between two countries.
